Check a firm in five minutes

Updated 2026-10-28 · 3 min read

  1. Search the firm in the AFM register, which lists many firms authorised to offer financial services in the Netherlands.
  2. Check the AFM warning list and the warnings published by other European regulators.
  3. If the firm says it is licensed elsewhere in the EU, ask which authority and look it up in that authority’s own register.
  4. Type the website address yourself: copycat sites imitate real firms.
  5. Be wary of binary options. They are banned for retail clients in the EU.

If the licence cannot be verified or the details do not match the company name and address, stop.
